Online Shopping at BeautyMNL

Online shopping is fun especially if it's for makeup. If you like buying cosmetics but hates pushy sales people and super crowded places, then we are definitely on the same page. I stumbled upon BeautyMNL on their first launch, but I didn't browse through their website back then. I felt I needed a break from buying online so I set myself a shopping ban. Of course it failed (hahaha). Makeup is hands down my ultimate favorite to purchase. So when BeautyMNL contacted me to try their services, of course I said yes!

I was so impressed with their website. It's clean, fresh, and always up-to-date. They have so much brands to offer and I was shocked to see Korean brands that I've listed on my "to buy" stuff that I cannot get locally. Also, I spent a lot of time reading their articles, they're relevant and helpful for kikays like me who likes to test out different makeup and skincare products.  The website has a user-friendly interface, and you can even browse it on your phone. It's totally hassle free.

Registering an account took me about 3 minutes or so. After that I got to browse through numerous makeup items. There are A LOT of makeup to choose from, different shades are available and listed per item. Swatches are also available for reference so there's no need to Google one. It was so easy to maneuver through every page because makeup, skincare, and nail items are all categorized. Good job BeautyMNL

After checking every makeup item there is, I picked the ones I wanted to try. I am very interested with Sleek Matte Me liquid lipsticks, and the Pink Sugar Sugar Tints, and Matte in Detail liquid lipsticks so I grabbed two. Sadly, the shades that are popular were out of stock at the moment. But do not fret, BeautyMNL sends email alerts for restocks if you join the waitlist.

Payment system is great, no hassles whatsoever. And the great part is they offer Cash On Delivery up to a maximum of P5,000.

After that, I just waited for a few minutes and my order was acknowledged via email. Tracking the package is through the account in the "Order tracking" section. The package arrived in just one day. Talk about fast!

I ordered last September 13 and the package arrived the next day in this BeautyMNL zip up pouch.

Fashion21 Two-Way Cake with milk moisturizers SPF 35+ review

Hello girls! It's been so long since I sat down to write. I missed writing but my health is my priority, and now that I am in a much better state I can sneak a post or two on my blog. As someone who is plagued by constant allergy attacks, it isn't easy to find makeup products that suites my skin. Some makeups causes my skin to breakout, and have dry patches and allergies. So finding a good makeup base is a must! It all starts with what I put on my face as base, such as primer, foundation, concealer, and powder. The other makeup products like eyeliner, eyebrow pencil, lipstick, blush on, bronzer, contour powder, highlighter, and mascara does not contribute in my allergy whatsoever.

Above all that, I have an oily face that constantly makes it even harder for me to put on makeup and make it last all day. The average time I look decent with a full face makeup is about 3-4 hours, the rest of the day I look cakey, patchy, and oily. Yuck.

My technique is to blot, and use two-way cake powder foundation rather than just ordinary powders. Even loose powders can't contain the oil on my face. Two-way cakes are the way to go because they offer a much thicker coverage plus helps my makeup lasts a little bit longer. FASHION21's two-way cake easily provides all those and more.

cover photo

Fashion21 two-way cake can be used dry or wet using a sponge. I personally like to use it dry using a powder brush to set my foundation and bake my undereye concealer. The packaging is made out of plastic, compact, and easy to carry around. It is light weight and comes with a separate compartment for the sponge. Bonus points for the mirror too!

I put the Fashion21 Two-Way Cake with Milk Moisturizers to the test to see if it can compete with the oilyness of my face. I chose to use the one with milk moisturizers because it is mild and gentle, although it is suited for people with dry skin.

Packaging is a very nice white shade with silver lining. This is my favorite among all four because it looks sleek and classy.

Packaging comes with a high quality round sponge. It is smooth and helps touching up during the day easy to do. I like that it is not flimsy and thin, and has it's own compartment for hygienic purposes.

The two way cake comes with a plastic protector that I tossed (because I tend to lose them anyway). Mirror is a very decent size, and the pan is wide and deep enough with 11 grams of product. I tested the shade number 2, and so far it is the closest match to my skin tone. The powder is not chalky, but not creamy either. It's sort of in between with minimal fallouts using a brush. Using it with a wet sponge gives medium to full coverage all throughout the day, but personally I use it dry as finishing powder to my liquid foundation.

Swatches of the powder foundation from left to right:
Fashion21 two way cake with papaya extract, Fashion21 two way cake with tea tree oil, Fashion21 two way cake, Fashion21 two way cake with milk moisturizers

The shade number 2 of the two way cake with milk moisturizers is the closest to my skintone. I am in the shade NC40 for reference. I use it to top my liquid foundation and for on the go touch ups during the day using only brush. I skip the sponge because it packs up too much powder on my skin, and it doesn't look good combined with oil and sweat. It helps control oil for about 2-3 hours, gives a natural glowing look to my skin, and helps cover up all the acne scars and darkness on the undereye area. Shade number 2 has a yellowish undertone that is suitable for filipina skin.

This is my face with Revlon liquid foundation + Fashion21 two-way cake with milk moisturizers. Sorry for the angle, I am not good at this! =)

After 3 hours and one blotting period, this is my face trying to look cool but ended up looking dumb. Apparently I suck at finding the right spot to look at the camera. I probably will also suck at vlogging for the same reason.

Yehey! I found the camera (after 1000000 tries). My face after a long day, total of 7 hours, of raining and humid weather after. I think the powder held up pretty nicely, although there were minimal dry patches around my lips and nose. Nonetheless, the powder was a warrior against my oily face. It hid the pimple scars on my forehead and nose area, and did not aggravate the redness of my face.

What I like about it:
  • SPF 35+
  • no foul smell
  • price is affordable
  • great shades for filipina skintone
  • did not worsen my pimples
  • did not give me allergy
  • did not make me sneeze
  • did not cake after a few touchups

All in all it is a great experience using the Fashion21 two-way cake with milk moisturizers. I think the added ingredient helped my skin not breakout, and that is a nice plus for me. It has paraben in the ingredients but it didn't break me out so all is good.

Here's the ingredient list:

Fashion21 two-way cake also has three other types:

  Fashion21 two-way cake

Fashion21 two-way cake with tea tree oil

Fashion21 two-way cake with papaya extract

Find Fashion21 in all leading drugstores and department stores nationwide. Be sure to check out their two-way cakes where you drop by!

My New Interest

Lately I have been Google-ing planners, specifically the A5 6-hole ring bind planners. I stumbled upon Filofax and Kikki-k, though I have little information as to what they are. I wanted the big one because I hate writing in small papers. Upon my adventures of Google-ing for two days, I saw printables. yes. Printables in all its glory. And I wanted them badly for myself. Since I cannot purchase Filofax planner refills, I kept on looking for local planner refills. None. boo hoo hoo.

Luckily I had a printing business before, so printing my own planner refills is as easy as 1-2-3. I want to design my own planner refills one day. Maybe after I have settled and adjusted with my new schedule. I would love to put my artistic skills to good use again.

So for my planner goal, I would like to present

SAFFIANO ORGANIZER

A5 Raspberry
 product code: 022474

I would like to chat with you about planners! If you know where I can get this planner and refills, chat
with me on Instagram, Facebook, iMessage, or Viber!

Fake Makeup

So for the longest time I have been quiet about fake makeup products lurking around. Everytime I see online sellers posting their fake products, I just scroll up and turn a blind eye. Especially when they state that they are selling fake. But I witnessed something today that I needed to post something about it. One particular seller is blunt enough to post someone as a bogus buyer / joy reserver. Even stating that the said makeups are authentic, from Singapore.  I am posting my opinion about such immoral strategy.  By posting such harsh accusations, she may get more buyers than usual because people may think her shop is legitimate. But up to what extent?

Selling fake makeup products is punishable by law.

REPUBLIC ACT No. 3720

AN ACT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND PURITY OF FOODS, DRUGS, AND COSMETICS BEING MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC BY CREATING THE FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION WHICH SHALL ADMINISTER AND ENFORCE THE LAWS PERTAINING THERETO.

CHAPTER X
Cosmetics
ADULTERATED COSMETICS
Section 23. A cosmetic shall be deemed to be adulterated: (a) If it bears or contains any poisonous or deleterious substances which may render it injurious to users under the conditions of use prescribed in the labeling thereof, or under the conditions of use as are customary or usual: Provided, That this provision shall not apply to coal-tar hair dye, the label of which bears the following legend conspicuous displayed thereon: "Caution: This product contains ingredients which may cause skin irritation on certain individuals and a preliminary test according to accompanying directions should first be made. This product must not be used for dyeing the eyelashes or eyebrows; to do so may cause blindness", and the labeling of which bears adequate directions for such preliminary testing. For the purposes of this paragraph and paragraph (e) the term "hair dye" shall not include eyelash dyes or eyebrow dyes.

(b) If it consists in whole or in part of any filthy, putrid, or decomposed substance.
(c) If it has been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth, or whereby it may have been rendered injurious to health.
(d) If its container is composed, in whole or in part, of any poisonous or deleterious substance which may render the contents injurious to health.
(e) If it is not a hair dye and it bears or contains a coal-tar color other than one which is permissible.

MISBRANDED COSMETIC
Section 24. A cosmetic shall be deemed to be misbranded:

(a) If its labeling is false or misleading in any particular.
(b) If in package form unless it bears a label containing (1) the name and place of business of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor; and (2) an accurate statement of the quantity of the contents in terms of weight, measure, of numerical count: Provided, That under reasonable variations shall be permitted and exemptions as to small packages shall be established by regulations prescribed by the Secretary.
(c) If any word, statement, or other information required by or under authority of this Act, to appear on the label or labeling is not prominently placed thereon with such conspicuousness (as compared with other words, statements, designs, or devices, in the labeling) and in such terms as to render it likely to be read and understood by the ordinary individual under customary conditions of purchase and use.
(d) If its container is so made, formed, or filled as to be misleading

I stand by my opinion that fake is fake, and whatever people may tell you that those products are safe to use, there are ingredients in that item that can harm your body. Please do not purchase these types of makeup when you see them. These fake makeups are often found at Divisoria, Greenhills Shopping Center, and other bargain shopping areas. I much prefer to use real cosmetics for they have been tested well and it doesn't contain harsh and harmful ingredients.

Here's some tips to buy real makeup:
1. Buy from makeup boutiques in malls. You can even test the makeup on your skin before buying.
2. Purchase from legitimate online sellers that sell makeup not locally available.
3. Be vigilant when buying makeup. Read and research about the difference of fake and real makeup.
4. Wait for 20-50% sale at the malls to avail your makeup staples and wishlists.

Here are some informative blog posts from reliable beauty bloggers about fake cosmetics:

I hope to clarify for my readers that I do not and will not use fake makeup and skincare products. For reasons that I hate to have skin breakouts, I do not support people selling fake products, and I hate people who posts bogus buyers just to proof the legitimacy of their said online shop. I have tried fake makeup brushes from Landmark, the Artist Studio brushes, and I like them (they're okay but I rarely use them) though I prefer to use my Real Techniques brushes for they do not break me out.

REVIEW: L'oreal Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder

L'oreal Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder

Price: P499.00
Brought from: Watsons SM Mall (beside Tiendesitas)
Locations: all L'oreal counters nationwide

I wanted to have this product the moment I saw it on one Instagram post a few months ago. But I waited for the official release on the market to get my kikay hands on one. Finally, after a few tap dances I saw a new display on SM. And of course I had to get one.

The fuchsia pink packaging is giving me life! Pink is my favorite color, and immediately I was like a predator to this prey. I wanted my right shade so I asked the saleslady to help me choose. She assessed my skin as a neutral medium skin tone, so she picked Rose Ivory for me.It was the right shade thank goodness!

My shade
Lo and behold when I opened the packaging out comes this fuchsia pink case, and I immediately fell in love. The back part of the case is a matte semi-clear packaging which for me is a very nice touch effect. The packaging is sturdy and slim, and I always put it inside my pouch wherever I go.

It comes with a sturdy sponge, I enjoyed using it for quick touch-ups. The powder is finely milled and soft to the touch. I love that it doesn't have a strong odor or smell to it that often makes me sneeze.

L'oreal powder is soft to the touch

I tried to do the fresh test to this one too! And it also absorbs water really well. I was surprised to witness this powder absorbed all the water sprayed on it. Well done L'oreal!

Water test

All in all I think this powder will be a staple in my makeup table and makeup bag. A great product for touch-ups because it does not crease or cake on my skin even after 5 hours. I needed to reapply after a few hours because that's the way my face works, it just secretes oil and sweat worse during summer. Pricing is average since powders range from 300 to more than a thousand pesos these days.

Here's my Instagram post and selfie using the L'oreal Mat Magique powder.

REVIEW: Maybelline White Super Fresh Powder Foundation

MAYBELLINE WHITE SUPER FRESH
THE NO TOUCH-UP POWDER FOUNDATION

Price: P299.00
Available in all leading drugstores, department stores, grocery stores, etc.
Gift from Maybelline PH

There's one thing I never liked with powders, they cake. My face never get along well with powders, somehow they end up creasing and cakey and all over the place. Like two same magnet pole end, they repel each other. For two years, there's not even one powder that lasted on me for more than 8 hours WITHOUT retouching. Thanks to the oil on my face, matte powders are a staple makeup product in my makeup bag.

But having a matte finish is not the end of the story. The powder itself should last longer than most average powders out in the market. And don't forget the price either. Maybelline launched their White Super Fresh powder foundation last January, and I got to test the product firsthand on the day of the event.
